Paraphrasing from the BBC on-line News item: 'The trio of European Space Agency (Esa) satellites left the Plesetsk Cosmodrome at 12:02 GMT November, 22, riding a Rockot vehicle. They were deployed at an altitude of 490km, in a polar orbit, 91 minutes later. The primary target for research is Earth's magnetic field and its secular variation. The lead-PI is Prof Eigil Friis-Christensen, a former director of Denmark's National Space Institute.' The mission has significant interest from the SuperDARN side, especially with Canadian researchers. The three satellites use the Canadian Electric Field Instrument (EFI), which is based on instruments developed by the University of Calgary.
