How to Acknowledge Use of SuperDARN Data
The research enabled by SuperDARN is due to the efforts of teams of scientists and
engineers working in many countries to build and operate radars, process data and provide
access, develop data products, and assists users in interpretation.
Users of SuperDARN data and data products are asked to acknowledge this support in
presentations and publications. A tool to generate suitable text is available
here. The tool will also
generate a Table of persons to contact regarding the use of data from particular radars.
In addition, a complete listing of radars and PIs with their contact information can be found
here.
Notes on Acknowledging Use of SuperDARN Data...
Tables of SuperDARN radars are provided below. If a radar is identified by name in the work,
tick its box, and tick as many boxes as necessary. If the work instead only makes reference to
'SuperDARN' or 'SuperDARN radars,' then leave the boxes unticked. Hitting the 'Generate Acknowledgement'
button will then produce text suitable to be copied and pasted into an Acknowledgements statement.
The Acknowledgement text will be followed by a Table that lists contact information for each radar
that has been identified. If they haven't already, users are requested to contact the persons indicated
to review their usage of the data and to determine whether coauthorship is appropriate. If the work in
question does not identify individual radars by name, the user should use their best judgement as to
which SuperDARN PI group to contact.

How to Generate Your Acknowledgement
- Select the specific radars named in your study from the lists below (If you referred only to 'SuperDARN' skip this step.)
- Click "Generate Acknowledgement" to create your complete acknowledgement
Your output will appear above this block of text in italics and consist of two parts:
- Your acknowledgement statement
- A list of persons to contact concerning your usage of the data from the radars identified
